This is a historic decision that closes a scandal that has marked several generations of Greenlandic women. The Danish Parliament has just voted to compensate, to the tune of 40,000 euros, women victims of a vast campaign to install IUDs carried out from the 1960s onwards when Denmark was responsible for the health system in Greenland.These IUDs have been placed on at least 4,300 women and girls, some without their knowledge or consent.C’est une décision historique qui vient clore un scandale ayant marqué plusieurs générations de Groenlandaises. Le Parlement danois vient de voter l’indemnisation, à hauteur de 40 000 euros, des femmes victimes d’une vaste campagne de pose de stérilets menée à partir des années 1960 alors que le Danemark était responsable du système de santé au Groenland. Ces stérilets ont été posés à au moins 4 300 femmes et jeunes filles, certaines sans même en être informées ni y avoir consenti.
