Personal data
The site records the data strictly necessary to run accounts and the forum: username, email address, password hash, language, declared country, contributions, and the IP address of posts for moderation purposes. A session cookie and, if you ask for it, a persistent sign-in cookie are set; both are necessary to the service and serve nothing else. No advertising tracker is used.
How long data is kept
Technical logs — moderation records and anti-spam checks — keep the IP address and browser behind a posting. These network identifiers are removed after 30 days: the record remains, stripped, long enough to account for the decisions taken. The record itself is deleted after 365 days. A daily purge applies these limits without your having to ask; erasing your account erases everything about you at once, without waiting for them.
Political leaning estimate
A political opinion is sensitive data under Article 9 of the GDPR. The leaning estimate shown on profiles is computed only after explicit consent, given from your account and revocable at any time. It draws solely on your public writing — forum messages and programme sections. Depending on how the site is configured, it is computed here from a lexicon, or sent for analysis to a third-party service (OpenAI); no email address or account data goes with it. You separately choose whether to keep it private or make it public. Withdrawing consent erases the stored estimate immediately. It is an automated reading: fallible, and never a declaration of your views.
Signing petitions
Supporting a petition amounts to expressing a political opinion, sensitive data under Article 9 of the GDPR. A signature is recorded only on your initiative, once signed in, and you choose at that moment whether your name appears or your support stays anonymous. The associated country serves the national-threshold count; it is never displayed on its own. Withdrawing your support deletes the corresponding row and decrements the counters, keeping no named trace. These signatures are not official statements under Regulation (EU) 2019/788 and are passed to no third party.
Rights over content
Forum contributions remain the property of their authors. The base map comes from Natural Earth, released into the public domain.

For any question, and to exercise your rights over your data, write to info@exeuropa.com. A reply follows within a month, as the regulation requires.
Audience measurement
The site uses Google Analytics 4 to know which pages are read. This measurement is neither loaded nor active until you have explicitly accepted it: before your agreement, the content security policy forbids the browser itself from reaching Google’s servers. Purposes are limited to traffic statistics; ad personalisation and Google signals are switched off. The data is processed by Google LLC, which involves a transfer outside the European Union, framed by the standard contractual clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. The legal basis is your consent (GDPR art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw here at any time, as simply as you gave it.
